"In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, frames, and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces." (source)
This quilt is inspired by the Roman god Janus. My friend Kaitlyn, from Archaios Quilt Company, created the pattern. She modeled it after a playing card, which is mirrored and two-faced by nature.
I wanted to make a version of this quilt that was dark and moody, so I chose muted teal and deep ocean blue fabrics. I backed the quilt in deep black, and quilted it with silver-grey thread.
This quilt is 100% cotton, including fabric, batting, and thread. The quilt top is pieced from Art Gallery fabrics, and the backing and binding are made with a silky black fabric gifted to me by a friend.
